Report helps bolster the case for diversity

Bill Keating Jr. tells a great story about his successful attempt to sell out the 2007 women’s Crosstown Shootout basketball game between UC and Xavier.

The Keating Muething & Klekamp partner was looking for a major sponsor and approached Fifth Third Bancorp. His theory was the bank would benefit from publicity generated by signs around town saying, “Sell out Fifth Third Arena.”

Keating says the bank initially agreed to be a sponsor because it was the right thing to do for the community. The next day, the bank called Keating back with an amended answer: It wasn’t just the right thing to do for the community;
